New injectable Sculptra competes with fat injections

Unlike other injectable products, Sculptra® is not a site-specific wrinkle filler, but rather a re-volumizing agent that restores fullness and contours to correct the signs of facial fat loss. Facial fat loss (Lipoatrophy) occurs in all of us as we age. This loss of volume results in sunken cheeks and temples, accentuated facial folds and shadowing and generalized facial deflation or drooping and is one of the primary reasons patients seek cosmetic treatment.

Restoration of soft tissue volume and contours, rather than the correction of a few individial lines, is possible with this product. Sculptra, a form of poly-l-lactic acid, is a very safe FDA approved biodegradable compound that has been used in a wide range of medical devices, including dissovable sutures, for more than 30 years. It has been used for facial agumentation in over 150,000 patients in over 30 countries since 1999. Sculptra is a bio-activator, not a filler.

Sculptra has been used as a cosmetic correction for aging for over 7 years in 30 plus countries worldwide. In Europe the product is marketed under the name of NewFill. It is now approved by the FDA in the USA for cosmetic facial treatments
