New Botox Competitor to Debut Next Month - Xeomin

This will be similar to Botox and Dysport wrinkle-relaxing injectables. Xeomin, Dysport, and Botox are each composed of similar, yet slightly different formulations of the botulinum toxin type A neurotoxin.
However, just like with Dysport I would be cautious to jump in on the Xeomin wagon. Botox has over 1o years of experience behind it and has proven very safe and effective over the years. However , the approval of the 3rd agent should bring the prices down :-)

Economy slows cosmetic procedures only slightly

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, based here, nearly 10 million cosmetic procedures were performed in the United States in 2009. That’s down just 2 percent from 2008.

Nonsurgical procedures — the most popular of which are Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA, Allergan) injections, laser hair removal, microdermabrasion and chemical peels — accounted for 85 percent of the total. The remainder comprised surgical procedures such as breast augmentation, liposuction, eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty and abdominoplasty.

A recent study involving 1,876 cosmetic practitioners in Southern California found that only 495 had plastic surgery training. Although it is not illegal for untrained doctors to perform certain cosmetic procedures, such as facial fillers and liposuction, the lack of training can increase the risk of serious injuries. same thing in Illinois.

I am coming back to Chicago from the Plastic Surgery Conference in Snowbird/Utah. As usual awesome skiing but also a lot of interesting informations about advances in plastic surgery. Back in Chicago

I am back in Chicago - pretty drastic change! (about 80 degrees difference)
It was a nice meeting, I was able to catch up with my plastic surgery colleagues and get up to date on new trends. I will share some with you. For those who do not like pain - now we mix fillers for lip enhancement and wrinkles with local anesthetic - much less "ouch" effect!

Good news is that everybody feels that economic crisis is over and people are spending more and more on cosmetic surgery, Botox and fillers. Also younger and younger women use these forms of non invasive rejuvenation. They just want to stay ageless
